Humana Plan Ending in 2027? Keeping Your Doctors in Florida

By October 30, 2026November 4th, 2026No Comments

If your Humana Medicare Advantage plan is ending in 2027, you can often keep your Florida doctors by choosing a new plan that includes them in its network. Your Humana coverage ends December 31, 2026. To have new coverage in place on January 1, 2027, choose a plan by December 7, when the Annual Enrollment Period ends.

Key Facts: Keeping Your Doctors When a Humana Plan Ends

Can You Keep Your Doctors When Your Humana Plan Ends?

Often, yes. What matters is whether each of your doctors is in the network of the plan you choose for 2027. Every plan sets its own network, so a doctor who accepts one Medicare Advantage plan may not accept another, even from the same company. Because provider lists can change, a licensed YourMedPlan advisor can confirm each doctor’s network status for you, and it is also worth asking each office which 2027 plans it expects to accept.

Will Your Prescriptions Still Be Covered?

That depends on the new plan’s drug list and pharmacy network, which vary from plan to plan. If your Humana plan included drug coverage, that coverage also ends December 31. Going 63 days or more in a row without creditable drug coverage can lead to a Part D late enrollment penalty, so aim to have new drug coverage start January 1.

When Should You Choose Your New Plan?

  • December 7, 2026: The Annual Enrollment Period ends. Coverage starts January 1, 2027.

  • December 31, 2026: Your Humana plan ends.

  • February 28, 2027: Your Special Enrollment Period ends. If you enroll in January or February, coverage starts the first day of the next month, which leaves a gap in coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions: Keeping Your Doctors in 2027

Will I lose my doctors if my Humana plan ends?

Not necessarily. You can keep seeing your doctors if they are in the network of the plan you choose for 2027, or if you switch to Original Medicare and they accept Medicare. A YourMedPlan advisor can confirm each doctor before you enroll.

How do I know if my doctor is in network for 2027?

Ask your doctor’s office which 2027 Medicare plans it expects to accept, because online directories can contain errors. Then share your list with a licensed YourMedPlan advisor, who will confirm each doctor’s network status and point out anyone who would be out of network.

Will my prescriptions be covered under a new plan?

Only if they are on the new plan’s 2027 drug list. Drug coverage, pharmacy networks and costs differ from plan to plan, so share your medications, doses and pharmacies with your advisor. Each drug will be reviewed against your 2027 options before you decide.

Is a PPO or an HMO better for keeping my doctors?

It depends on where your doctors practice. A PPO usually covers out-of-network care at a higher cost, which can help if your specialists are in different health systems. An HMO generally requires you to use in-network providers except in emergencies. Your advisor can show how each plan type fits the doctors you already see.

What happens if I do not choose a new plan?

You will be covered by Original Medicare starting January 1, 2027, without the drug coverage your Humana plan provided. If you get Extra Help, Medicare will place you in a stand-alone drug plan, and you can still switch to a different one. Your Special Enrollment Period continues through February 28, 2027.
