No, Humana is not leaving Florida. Humana is ending some of its Medicare Advantage (MA) plans in Florida for 2027, and those plans stop on December 31, 2026. If you received a letter saying your plan will not renew, you have time to choose new coverage.
YourMedPlan is a licensed, local advisory team based at our Clearwater headquarters, among other locations. We help Medicare clients across Florida and other states understand their ANOC letters, and our advisors compare options to help clients find plans that fit their needs and budgets.
Understanding Humana’s 2027 Changes
Humana is ending specific plans, mostly in counties where it will keep offering other plans. Several of the plans that are ending are Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans, including Humana Full Access Giveback plans.
If Your Letter Says Your Plan Is Ending
-
Your Medicare Part A and Part B continue. Only the Humana plan ends.
-
If your plan included drug coverage, that coverage ends December 31, 2026, unless you choose a new plan.
-
A Special Enrollment Period (SEP) for ending plans applies whether you are 65 or older or under 65 with Medicare because of a disability.
If Your Letter Says Your Plan Is Being Combined
Some Humana plans are being combined with another Humana plan instead of ending. If so, you move to the new plan automatically and get an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC). You can still change plans during the Annual Enrollment Period.
Exploring Your 2027 Coverage Options
You can choose another Medicare Advantage plan, including a different Humana plan if one is offered in your county, or Original Medicare with a Part D drug plan and possibly a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy.
Let an Advisor Compare Plans in Your County
Call a YourMedPlan advisor at 727-564-9695. We compare each plan’s doctor network, drug list, and out-of-pocket maximum for you.
Ask About Medigap Rights
When your plan ends, you may have a special right to buy certain Medigap policies. The rules depend on your state and your age, so ask your YourMedPlan advisor about them before you decide.
Plan Ahead
Starting early gives your advisor time to compare plans for you and answer your questions.
Key Dates for Humana Members
-
October 15 to December 7, 2026: Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). Changes take effect January 1, 2027.
-
December 8, 2026 to February 28, 2027: SEP for members whose plans are ending.
-
December 31, 2026: Last day of your current Humana plan.
-
January 1, 2027: New coverage starts if you enroll by December 31, 2026.
Missed the deadline? If you enroll in January, your new plan starts February 1. If you enroll in February, it starts March 1. Until then, you would have Original Medicare without drug coverage.
Can You Keep Your Doctors and Prescriptions?
That depends on the new plan. Before you enroll, a YourMedPlan advisor will check that:
-
Your doctors, specialists, and hospitals are in the plan’s network.
-
Your prescriptions are on the plan’s drug list.
-
The plan’s costs fit your budget.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Humana leaving Florida in 2027?
No. Humana is ending some Florida Medicare Advantage plans but continues to offer other plans across Florida for 2027.
Will I lose Medicare if my Humana plan ends?
No. You keep Medicare Part A and Part B. If you don’t choose a new plan, you move to Original Medicare on January 1, 2027, without the plan’s drug coverage or extra benefits.
Does it cost anything to get help from YourMedPlan?
No. Licensed agents are paid by the insurance companies, and your plan premium is the same whether or not you use an agent.
